На чем мы остановились ? / So, where we were? :)

Летние каникулы подходят к концу, силы восстановлены, самое время привести тела в тонус и приниматься за работу, ведь совсем скоро - уже в октябре! - наши финские друзья из цирка Школы искусств эстрады приедут с ответным визитом к нам в Гатчину, где мы и покажем наше совместное шоу Rajalla. Предлагаю вспомнить, как это было в апреле в Лаппеенранте! :)

Summer holidays are going to end (and already finished two weeks ago in Fimland), our powers restored, it's time to get our bodiesto tone and start to work, because very soon - already in October! - our finnish friends from Taidekoulu Estradi will come to Gatchina where we will perform our show "Rajalla". I offer you to remember how it was in April in Lappenranta :)

Last week was full of training.
We still needed to practice some dance choreographies.
Also for example teeter board act needed some extra hours.




And today is finally the big day...

All our guests from Circus Grotesk from Gatschina will arrive to Lappeenranta. We will have two times big rehearsal and also we will take some photos of today´s rehearsals.

Ella ja Aino tulivat eilen jonkkatunnille aivan turhaan sillä eräät nimeltä mainitsemattat pojat eivät saapuneet tunnille. No, jottei tunti olisi mennyt aivan hukkaan Ella ja Aino päättivät haastatella paria Estradilla haahuilevaa henkilöä muutamalla polttavalla kysymyksellä. 

Ella and Aino came juggling class for no reason because some nameless boys didn't show up. Well, so that the class wouldn't go waste they decided to interview few people who were wandering around.

Perjantaina 4.4. teimme ensimmäistä kertaa esityksen läpi numeroilla. Oli mielenkiinotista nähdä muiden numerot ja kuulla musiikit. Kokonaisuus on kuitenkin vielä aika sekava ja numeroissa on vielä hiomista. Työtä siis on vielä paljon.

We did a presentation for the first time through with music and tricks. It was interesting see from others numbers and listen to their music. We have a lot of to do because the presentation needs more practise.

Ring trapeze: Helmi

Tänään seurasin Helmin ilma-akrobatiaharjoituksia ja hänen numeron valmistumisa. Samalla kyselin Helmin miettetä esityksestä.

Today I was following Helmi's aerial acrobatics lesson. I also saw part of her ring trapeze number and after that, I interviewed her about the spring show.

Helmi teki kolme vuotta stten rengastrapetsinumeron duona Saanan kanssa. Viime vuonna hän teki ensimmäistä kertaa soolonumeron. Tänä vuonna hän tekee siis jo toisen kerran soolona.

Three years ago Helmi did ring trapeze number with Saana and last year she did alone. This year is her second time when she does solo number.

Do you like more solo or duo?

- I like doing duo more because then we can plan number together and that motivates me much more. Now when I do alone, I can change this act all the time and that's nice too. 

Have you enjoyed doing ring trapeze act this year? Is it ready yet?

- Yes I have liked it because the theme is good. It's always difficult to do trapeze number with  certain theme and this year it has been challenging to show the Indian theme. 

Circus "Grotesk" : young students and dinosaurs

Времени до представлений остается всё меньше, график тренировок становится плотнее, к сожалению – работы и учебы тоже. Но, тем не менее,  жонглеры  жонглируют, моноциклисты катаются и оттачивают трюки, воздушные гимнастки учат новые трюки или пытаются восстановить старые. В то же время мы тоже решили провести опрос среди участников программы, как и наши финские товарищи – насколько они готовы к шоу? Чего они ожидают? Многие наши ребята были в своих ответах предельно краткими, но вот вопросы, которые мы им задали: 

There is not so much time left before the show, training schedule becomes more tight, but unfortunately so does the studing and working schedule.  But nevertheless the jugglers keep juggling, unicyclers keep cycle, air gymnasts learning new tricks or trying to restore something they new before. At the same time we decided to interview our students like our friends from circus "Tuikku" - are they are ready for the show ? What do they expect from this experience? Our students were extremely brief sometimes, but here are their answers:

Hoi pyramidiläiset, missä ootte?!

Pyramideissa ainoa ongelma tuntuu olevan se, ettei kaikki pyramidiläiset pääse tulemaan harjoituksiin. Viimeisimmissä pyramidi harjoituksissa saatiin kasattua vain muutama pyramidi kokonaan, sillä ihmisiä on viime aikoina ollut paljon poissa harjoituksista. Se vaikeuttaa todella paljon harjoittelua, sillä pyramidit eivät toimi, jos yksikin henkilö puuttuu. Onneksi monet poissaolijat ovat hankkineet itselleen sijaisen, vaikka olisikin hienoa, jos edes kerran ennen harjoituksia kaikki pyramidiryhmäläiset olisivat paikalla.


The only problem with the pyramid exercises
seems to be that people have a lot of other stuff to do at the time of
exercise. At last rehearsal, we were able to train only a few
pyramids, and that's not very well.

It would be great if we could have practiced with the whole group at least once before the performances.

Päättötyöt / The graduation acts

Tänä vuona kevätnäytöksessä nähdään kaksi päättötyö numeroa, Sandran soolonotkeus ja Elinan ilmakangas. Päättötyön voi tehdä kun on kertynyt 1 300 sirkus tuntia vuosien aikana, yleensä se kuitenkin tehdään vasta, kun muutetaan opiskelemaan toiseen kaupunkiin.

Molemmat päättötyön tekijät kertovat nyt missä mennään ja millä fiiliksellä:

This year we will see two graduation acts, Elinas's aerial silks and Sandra's solo contortion. You can do a graduation act if you have 1 300 circus training hours in your history. Usually it is done when ypu move out to another city to study and have to stop circus.

Teen päättötyöni kankaalla. Numero on valmis mutta kaipaa vielä hienosäätöä ja treenausta... Musiikki minulla on, mutta puvun suunnittelu on vielä vaiheessa: se on hankalaa, koska en oikein tiedä puvustuksesta mitään. Päättötyön kirjallista osuutta en ole ehtinyt vielä edes aloittaa, mutta nyt, kun on enemmän aikaa, alan panostaa siihen kunnolla, jotta saan sen ajoissa valmiiksi.

I'm doing my final with aerial silks. The act is ready but still in need of training... I have the music for my silks act but the costume is not redy: it's difficult to plan because I don't know much about costume making and designing. I haven't even started the written part of the final because I haven't had time, but I'll soon start writing it because I want to get it ready in time.

soolo notkeus, solo contortion

Kevätnäytös lähestyy ja niin myös paineet kasvavat. Esiintymispuku sekä meikin ja kampauksen suunittelu ovat vielä täysin vaiheessa. Myös numerossani on vielä joitakin epäselviä kohtia. Vielä muutama viikko sitten tuntui, että esityksenn olisi vielä aikaa vaikka millä mitalla, mutta nyt rupeaa tuntumaan ettei aika riitä millään.

Soolonumerossa on tietysti se hyvä puoli, että sitä pystyy treenaamaan milloin ikinä itselleen sopii, ja myös muutoksia on helppo tehdä. Lisäksi olen jo seittemättä kertaa mukana kevätnäytöksessä, joten tiedän, että joka vuona näihin aikoihin esiintyjät ja myös opettajat rupeavat stressaamaan esityksen valmistumisesta. Joka vuosi esitys on kuitenkin lopulta valmistunut, joten uskon että siitä selvitään tänäkin vuona!

It's soon time the spring show and the pressure is on. I haven't even started making my constume or planning my make up and hairdo. Also my act still needs a lot of practice. A couple of week ago it feel like there was plenty of time until the spring show but now it's starting to feel like it's not enough time to finish everything.

A good thing about my solo act is that I can practice it any time I want, and it's also easier to make changes in the coreography. Also, this is already my 7th spring show so I know that every year around this time it starts to seem we're running out of time. But every year the show has finally been finished and I believe we can make it through this year as well!

My circus friend: Multitalent Jessica

Tänään haastattelin Jessicaa, joka on yksi vanhimpia sirkuslaisia täällä Estradilla. Tämä on hänen viides kevätnäytöksensä ja hän on mukana monessa eri numerossa. 

Jessica on monitaituri erilaisissa sirkuslajeissa. Hänen päälajinsa ovat trapetsi, pariakrobatia ja pyramidit. Näiden lajien lisäksi hän on mukana vipulautanumerossa.

Today I interviewed Jessica, who is one of the oldest here in Estradi. This is her fifth spring show and she takes part in many acts.

Jessica is multitalented in different kind of circus discipline. She specializes in trapeze, hand to hand and pyramides. She is also in teeterboard number. 

What is your favorite discipline? Why?

-Trapeze, because it's have been my main discipline for a long time (about 5 years now).

Are all your circus acts ready yet?

-Trapeze and hand to hand are ready. Pyramid act is almost ready, but we haven´t decided all the choreographies yet.

Is it hard to be part of so many numbers?

-Not at all! I like it so much!

Do you want to be circus artist when you grow up?

- I don't want to be artist but I think that it would be nice to be a circus trainer.

Torstain akrotunnilla kauhea laiskuus vaivasi monia ja vipulauta tunnilla kärsittiin flunssan aiheuttamista miehistövajauksesta. Muutamasta numerosta puuttuu vielä musiikkikin.. Numeroiden eteneminen junnaa siis hieman paikallaan,  motivaation ja innostuksen uupuminen taitaa olla yleinen murhe tällä hetkellä. 

Mistä tätä motivaatiota voisi sitten ammentaa? 

Minä itse käytin lauantai aamupäivääni katselemalla sirkus aiheisia kuvia ja videoita. Muistelin myös aiempien vuosien esityksiä ja sitä fiilistä, kun esitys on onnistuneesti takanapäin ja katsojat taputtavat esiintyjät uudestaan lavalle, hymy on korvissa ja tunnelma katossa. 

We have a little bit lack of motivation. Many people have been sick last week and they whom have been in exercises they have  been lazy and tired.

 I grew my motivation by watching circus pictures and thinking how good feeling I have after show.

Прошлая неделя выдалась для участников цирка "Гротеск" очень насыщенной - было несколько выступлений, которые, впрочем, не помешали готовиться дальше к проекту.

1. Моноциклисты начали учить комбинацию. которую Петра прислала на видео

5. Еще у нас была "воздушная тренировка". Так как у нас сейчас нет возможности тренироваться в своем зале, возможность репетировать раз в неделю нам любезно предоставляет гатчинский "Центр творчества юных". Спасибо им за это - для нас эти тренировки - просто праздник! :)

Last week was quet full for students of circus "Gtotesk" - there were few perfomances and lots of rehearsals

1) Our unicyclists started to learn combination Petra sent us earlier 

2)  Jugglers performed their light act in Tosno, but also they trained hard trying to keep all juggling balls in the air :)

3)  Acrobats trained a lot , learned new elements

4) Our yongest participants Nastya ans Uliana are also working hard on their act - contortion on table. It will be first time they take part in such a big international show, and they a really excited with this adventure. 

5) Last week we had an aerial rehearsal. As we don't have possibility to rehearse in our building, which on the repair, we train trapeze and tissues  in the Youth creativity center - thank you to them. for us this rehearsals are like high day!
